If you have a computer which is locking up when running anti-virus software and defragmentation software then do a drive integrity check on it.  Surprisingly enough, the computer had some bad files on it which was freezing both programs and the computer worked normally when those files were fixed.

(I thought the entire problem was McAfee… which is quite annoying in its’ own right…)
